Some facts about this new book

I was asked about what the chronicle “Do You Think I’m Stupid? A Chronicle of the Corporate World” is, and I simply replied that the chronicle is a story, of course. However, it’s not just a sequence of facts narrated by some characters, filled with picturesque dialogues, dotted with some well measured metaphors with touches of humor. It goes beyond, by inciting the reader to explore possibilities off their own performance in the work they do, regardless of what it is.

Other people insisted on knowing how I created something so unusual. The chronicle was born from my observation and experience in the corporate world over more than three decades. In that time, I found that working people invariably have an apathy and a sense of conformity that seems to permeate the entire organizational environment, formed by the relationships that people establish, and that ultimately determines success through their own efforts.

“And why did you launch the work in English too?”, others insisted on knowing. Well, I understood that readers from the rest of the world who don’t speak Brazilian Portuguese should be able to enjoy “Do You Think I’m Stupid? A Chronicle of the Corporate World.”. I think it would be selfish of me to leave them out!

A great friend and critical partner of mine in other editorial works, whom I invited to preface this book, told me that he read “Do You Think I’m Stupid? A Chronicle of the Corporate World.” from cover to cover in 6 uninterrupted hours. “Professor Marcus, I was ecstatic… I couldn’t stop reading!”, he said when giving me the feedback a day after I sent him the original version for reading. “Are you going to do more of this type of writing, Professor Marcus?” he asked afterwards, very curious! “Ah, who knows, right? A writer’s life is to write, so… maybe!”, I replied, leaving a possible continuation in suspense, because the authorship projects are always very personal and anything can happen. And he insisted: “Ah, I loved Filomena! What an authentic character! She deserves to be in another book!”. “I’ll think about it a lot…”, I replied to him.
